Browsing and search

The Meridian has no reader accounts or advertising trackers. Optional audience measurement is described below. Search runs in your browser using a public index of our articles. Search terms may appear in the page address; a server request for that address may be recorded by the hosting provider.

Optional Google Analytics

If you choose Allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 measures page views, engagement, approximate location, device information and referring websites using cookies and pseudonymous identifiers. The Google tag is not loaded and no analytics requests are sent before your consent or after you choose to continue without analytics. Hosting logs operate separately.

We send page addresses without query strings or fragments and referring website origins only. We do not send contact messages, email addresses or on-site search text to Google. Advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled. You can change your choice using Analytics preferences in the footer; withdrawing consent clears our Google Analytics cookies from this browser. Analytics cookies are configured to expire after six months, subject to browser restrictions.

Google processes measurement data under its own safeguards and terms. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Analytics reports do not identify visitors by name, and known-bot filtering does not guarantee that every remaining visit comes from a person.

Hosting and fonts

The site is hosted by Namecheap. Hosting infrastructure may process request information such as IP addresses for delivery, security and operational logs. Text uses fonts already available on your device; reading the site does not request fonts from an external font service.

Corrections and feedback

The contact form stores your message and any optional email address as private correspondence on the hosting account, outside the public website. It uses a temporary, secure session cookie to protect the form and a keyed, non-public address hash to limit abusive submissions. Messages are not displayed publicly or automatically emailed to third parties.
