The UN Institute for Disarmament Research scheduled a New York event for 22 October to introduce the forum attached to its Centre of Excellence on AI, Peace and Security. Switzerland and Pakistan are partners in the event.

According to UNIDIR, the centre opened in June 2026. The forum is intended to support exchanges among organisations, gather contributions through consultations and connect work across international policy initiatives.

The published programme calls for opening expressions of interest in participation. This report describes UNIDIR’s announced plans; it does not report an agreed treaty or a new binding rule on artificial intelligence.
